For any question about your data, write to us. A person answers.
What we collect
Only what you type into our forms:
- your name and your e-mail address;
- the country where you live, and your city where a form asks for it;
- if you choose to give them: your country of origin, the number of adults in your household, the name of your association and your role in it;
- the message you write to us.
The company that hosts this website keeps technical logs, as every web host does: the internet address of the device, the date and time, the page requested and the type of browser.
The written assistant at the bottom of the page works inside your browser. What you type into it is not sent to us and is not stored.
What we never collect
- your immigration or residence status;
- the numbers of your passport, identity card or residence permit;
- information about your health;
- your religion or your political opinions;
- payment details: membership is free.
Please do not send us any of these, in a form or by e-mail. If you do, we delete them.
Why we use it
- to answer you when you write to us;
- to register members and associations, and to send your member card details;
- to write to you about serving, if you offered to serve;
- to send news of member programmes for your region, only if you ticked that box.
We rely on your consent, which you give when you tick the box on a form and which you may withdraw at any time.
Where it is stored
Our international office is in the United States, and our hosting and e-mail providers may store data there or in another country outside the one where you live.
When personal data crosses a border, we protect it: by contract with our providers, and by collecting very little in the first place.
How long we keep it
We keep your registration for as long as you are a member, and we delete it when you ask. Messages sent through the contact form are kept for as long as it takes to answer you and to follow the matter to its end.
Your rights
You may ask us at any time:
- to see the data we hold about you;
- to correct it;
- to delete it;
- to stop writing to you, by withdrawing your consent.
You may also complain to the data-protection authority of the country where you live.
These rights are yours under the data-protection law of your country — among them Nigeria’s Data Protection Act 2023, Kenya’s Data Protection Act 2019, South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, Ghana’s Data Protection Act 2012, and the data-protection laws of Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal and the other countries where our members live. For members who live in Europe, they include the General Data Protection Regulation.
To use any of them, write to us from the e-mail address you registered with. We ask for nothing more than that.
