What your membership gives you.

One household has no bargaining power. As a member you negotiate with the weight of all the others.

  1. Your card, on your phone

A digital member card with a QR code, in your name.

  2. Twelve areas of everyday life

From the fare home to the school term, negotiated in great numbers.

  3. A community behind your family

Associations that stand together when a family is struck far from home.

  4. Every house of the family

One card, recognised in Africa, Europe, Canada, India, China, East Asia, West Asia and the Americas.

Three ways in.

Join alone, with the adults of your household, or bring your association.

Your member card.

Your card is digital. It lives on your phone, carries a QR code and bears your name and your house.

  • One card, recognised by every house of the family.
  • It follows you when you move: your membership crosses borders with you.
  • It carries the name of your association, when you belong to one.
  • It says nothing about your status, because we never ask.

members@tasafrica.org

Is there a fee to join?

No. Membership is free. One membership per adult; children under 18 are included on a parent’s membership. Associations join at no cost.

Who can join?

Any adult whose life crosses a border that touches Africa: Africans living outside the continent, Africans living in an African country other than their own, and people from other continents who live in Africa. Relatives and friends are welcome in their own right.

What do I need in order to join?

Your name, an e-mail address and the country where you live. Nothing more. We never ask about immigration or residence status.

How do I receive my member card?

By e-mail, for your phone. We confirm your membership, your digital card follows, and your association, if you belong to one, is linked to it.

What do you do with my details?

We use them to register your membership and to write to you, and for nothing else. We never sell personal data. The privacy notice sets out every detail in plain language.

Can I withdraw?

At any time, and without giving a reason. Write to us and we delete your registration.

Serve with us.

Some members wish to give more than their name. If you have time, a language, a profession or simply the trust of your community, there is a place of honour for you in this house.

  • Community ambassador in your city

Be the face of this house where you live — in Paris, Brussels, Houston, Dubai, Abidjan, Nairobi or Johannesburg — and the first person a new member meets.

  • Association liaison

Stand between your professional association, your alumni group or your city association and the regional network.

  • Interpreter or translator

Lend your languages to a member who needs to be understood: at a counter, on a form, on the telephone.

  • Guide writer

You know how the tax office, the bank or the land registry really works. Write it down for those who come after you.

  • Welcome volunteer for new arrivals

Meet a student, a worker or a family in their first weeks and show them the first steps: the SIM card, the transport pass, the bank account.

  • Professional offering orientation

Nurses, engineers, lawyers, accountants, teachers: an hour of orientation in your field for a member who is starting again.

Offer your time.

Tell us where you live and how you would like to serve. We write to you personally. Serving is an honour freely given, and you remain free at every moment.

You need not be a member to serve, though most who serve are.

Wherever we go, we go together.
